2007 — 2008 Speech Contests
Are You A Bonified Ad–libber? Do You Love Speaking Off The Cuff?
DO YOU CRAVE A PLATFORM TO SPEAK WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND? ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT SOMETHING, AND WANT TO SHARE IT WITH THE AGNES SCOTT COMMUNITY? The Speaking Center has the solution!
If so, the "Golden Troll" is just for you! Every fall, the Speaking Center hosts the Annual Impromptu Speech Contest, a time for students to show off (and improve) their impromptu speaking skills.
How does it work: Contestants randomly choose three humorous topics (i.e. "toes" "Evans Dining Hall" and "deodorant") and are given two minutes to craft a two–three minute speech. The best impromptu speech will be awarded "The Golden Troll" Award!
This year, the Impromptu Speech Contest will be held Thursday November 8, 2007 at 5:30p.m. in Alston Hub. To enter, just show up prepared to have fun. See you there!
Congratulations to Michelle Orr, recipient of the fall 2006 Impromptu Speaking Contest Golden Troll Award!
In the spring, the Speaking Center hosts the Annual Prepared Speech Contest. Students are asked to prepare a speech (six minutes maximum) of any topic of choice. First, second and third place winners are awarded various prizes, including medals and gift certificates. This event is open to the public, and will be held Thursday April 24, 2008 at 6:00p.m. in Lower Evans Aamp;B. To enter, stay on the lookout for additional guidelines in the spring!
